~~~~~~~~~~~The Main Religions Within Madagascar~~~~~~~~~~~~~
It's shown that in Madagascar, 52% of the people living in the country have an indigenous or traditional belief, which means it originated naturally within that country. 41% believe in Christianity, and only 7% are Moslem (muslims).
Traditional belief takes on a whole mind of its own. It can be based off of any cultural traditions and/or beliefs you come to terms with in any environment. The traditional belief in Madagascar is so popular mostly because of the tombs and value of the dead ancestors. Traditional belief is much like christianity due to the fact that normally, in traditional religions, there is one god that is named Zanahary (god on high) while the christian god is referred to as Andriamanitra (king of heaven). This is why the two religions come together so easily in Malagasy culture, because they are so alike. |
