Plate Tectonics:

Madagascar sits on two large plate tectonics that have made major impacts on its geography. More specifically, it is sitting upon the African tectonic plate. In this case, the tectonic plates under Madagascar were "divergent" plates. They spread apart and created ocean space between the island of Madagascar and the mainland. This created Madagascar's one physical feature that it is known for, it is a large island. The tectonic plates under Madagascar, fortunately, do not move often and therefore do not create many natural disasters. There have been no reporting's of earthquakes or hurricanes in this country. There are volcanoes, however. They just aren't considered a threat because they haven't erupted since prehistoric time.
The map below shows the world and all of it's plate tectonics. Madagascar is off to the side of the African tectonic plate and isn't usually affected by the plates.

Climate
Water Cycle
Water in Madagascar is quite limited, especially because of climate. Since there are so many droughts in this area of Africa, Madagascar mostly suffers from lack of clean water resources. There is no main body of water within this country either, instead, there are seven long rivers that stream throughout the whole island. Half of which are clean water rivers and the other half flow to and from the ocean, containing salt. The good thing about Madagascar's water supply is that it is publicly owned. The bad thing about Madagascar's water is the fact that it is mostly salt water from the Indian Ocean, and therefore the water cycle doesn't help the countries citizens with their water needs.

Natural ResourcesThere are few natural resources within the country of Madagascar. graphite, chromite, coal, bauxite, salt, and some type of semi-precious stone. Like it was previously talked about above, it is known that Madagascar is poor on fresh water. A place in which Madagascar does get a good amount of "potential" hydropower is from the fishing areas in the Indian Ocean. It is proven that 10% Madagascar's population are "nomadic" which means they more from place to place just to find fresh resources to use in life. With this said, it is pretty obvious that Madagascar doesn't have enough natural resources to actually share them with anyone. They keep their natural resources mostly.
